Yes. Manitoba law requires a valid Class 5L to drive, even with an instructor, so we cannot take you out without it. If you have not got there yet, start with our free practice knowledge test — it is the same material MPI examines.

It is the most common way students arrive. The first lesson starts in a quiet residential area with the car stationary, and nothing happens until you are ready for it to happen.

Honestly, nobody can tell you before seeing you drive. Some students need four, some need twenty, and it depends far more on how much practice you get between lessons than on natural ability. After the first assessment you will get a real estimate.

Yes, anywhere in Winnipeg, Springfield, Oakbank, East St. Paul and the surrounding area. Tell us where and the lesson starts and finishes there.

Weekdays and weekends, mornings through evenings. Early and late slots are available around shift work — several of our students book before a night shift.

Cancel free with 24 hours notice. Inside that we ask you to let us know as soon as you can, because the slot usually cannot be filled.

Yes. GSS Driving School is Kulwinder. You will not be handed between instructors part-way through.

Lessons are in an automatic dual-control vehicle. Manitoba does not restrict your Class 5 licence by transmission, so passing in an automatic licenses you for both.

Yes — that is the Road Test Day Package. It includes a warm-up lesson before your appointment and use of the insured dual-control vehicle for the test itself. Book early, as test-day slots go quickly.

A minimum of 9 months, and time only counts while the licence is valid. We record your Class 5L date and work out the eligibility date for you.

MPI requires a 14-day wait before another attempt. Bring the examiner's sheet to your next lesson — it tells us precisely what to work on, which usually turns out to be a much shorter list than it feels like.

Missed shoulder checks, by a distance. After that: rolling stops, driving to the speed of surrounding traffic rather than the posted limit, and hesitating so long at intersections that it becomes a hazard in itself.

Because a price list would mean quoting you before we know whether you need four lessons or twenty. We quote per student after the first conversation, and there is no obligation attached to asking.

No. Some students book lesson by lesson the whole way through.

Usually not. MPI may credit some of your driving experience, which can shorten or remove the learner stage — how much depends on where the licence is from and what you can document. We will help you work out what applies and focus lessons on the gap rather than the basics.

Yes, and it is more common than people assume — often after a collision, a long break, or a move to a city with heavier traffic. Refresher lessons work at whatever pace you set.

Yes, and it gets proper lesson time rather than a passing mention. Skid recognition and recovery, braking on ice, snow ruts and low visibility. A driver only taught in summer is not yet a Manitoba driver.
